You have watched a lot of videos and have read a lot of blogs about SEO, but watching and reading is not enough. You need to apply strategies or techniques to your blog to see results. Applying them will give you results.

1. Write High-Quality Content

Creating high-quality content is about providing useful, relevant and valuable information to your visitors compared to other websites. Your content should primarily be created to give visitors a better user experience, rather to rank well in search engines. If you provide a better user experience, then search engines will like your website.

2. Post Long Form Content

To get a higher rank in search results, create longer content from the content of your competitors. Writing long and relevant content helps you rank better for your targeted keywords. One study found that long content ranks a lot on Google's first page.

3. Less Duplicate Content

Duplicate content refers to similar content on other websites or on different pages on the same website (Including pages on your own website).

How does Duplicate Content affect SEO?

Google does not want to rank pages with duplicate content. Duplicate content confuses the search engines to recognize which version to index in search results.

Having duplicate content can harm your SEO performance, but you will not get a penalty from Google unless you intentionally copy someone else's content. If you are honest and not trying to cheat Google, you do not have to worry about penalties from Google.

4. Do Keyword Research

Keyword research is the process of searching phrases that are driving traffic on search engine results pages. The purpose of keyword research is to find words and phrases that users are searching on Google and other major search engines. These phrases are related to the content on your site.

Before writing content, it is better to do keyword research and consider how many people are searching for content that you are going to provide. Is it worth working for that keyword or not?

5. Avoid Keyword Stuffing

Keyword stuffing refers to the practice of loading webpages with keywords or numbers in an effort to manipulate a site's ranking in search results.

Google does not like websites that use black hat SEO techniques such as keyword stuffing. It's terrible for SEO.

6. Maintain Keyword Density

The keyword density is the percentage of the number of times a keyword appears on the page divided by the words of the total number of that page.

You should maintain a 1 to 3% percent keyword density with the entire keyword, including LSI keywords.

Do not repeat the same keyword over and over again. Instead of repeating similar words, use LSI keywords. This will help search engines understand more about your content.

Add relevant keywords in the first and last paragraphs and use where necessary.

Be sure to use the most important keyword in the first 100 words. It helps the search engine to understand what your post is.

7. Increase Time On Site

The user should stay on your website. Do not allow the user to quickly press the back button and leave your site. This will increase the bounce rate and your ranking will fall.

If someone presses his back button immediately after landing on a page, then he tells Google: this is a low-quality page.

That's why Google uses "Time on site" to shape the quality of your content. Raise your average time on site by writing long, compelling content that people keep reading.

Adding videos and infographics to a blog post allows the visitor to spend more time on your website.

8. Optimize Title Tags

Title Tags are the most important factor of SEO as well as the search user experience, writing them effectively is a very little effort, high-impact SEO work.

1. Write unique and relevant titles

The title of each page should be unique, relevant and match the user's query. Relevant titles help search engines understand that your content is unique and valuable and also drive high traffic and high click-through rate (CTR). 

2. Focus on the length of the title

If your title is too long, then search engines can cut it by adding an ellipse ("...") and eliminate important words. So my recommendation is to keep the title under 66 characters.

3. Enter important keywords in the beginning

Starting a title with keywords has a great impact on search engines. If this is not possible, then be sure to add it somewhere else in the title.

4. Do not do keyword stuffing

Do not repeat the same keyword and do not fill the title with keywords. Google does not like Keyword Stuffing.

9. Add Modifiers to Title Tag

Using the modifier in the title tag increases search traffic and it helps to rank for long-tail keywords.

10. Avoid Too Many Heading Tags

Do not use the H1 heading tag more than once. In Blogger and WordPress, the title is set by default for the H1 tag, so you do not need to use the H1 tag repeatedly in the article.

Do not repeat the same words in H2 or H3 tag in the article. 

11. Optimize Meta Tags

A meta tag is a text that describes the content of a page or post. Meta tags appear only on the page code. Adding a Meta description tag is one of the important on-page SEO factors.

The meta description you wrote should be easy to understand. It should be described that what is your post about. The new Google Meta description has a maximum of 320 characters.

Note: Now, Google does not count meta keywords as an SEO factor. Therefore, do not waste your time writing the meta keywords.

12. URL Optimization

Be sure to use short URLs and also add your target keywords in URL. Use hyphens instead of space and special characters in URLs.

Example of good Permalink:

13. Add Multimedia

Multimedia makes engagement. Adding attractive pictures, videos, and infographics to your content can increase time on the site. Using images and videos helps your content better than words only. So use pictures and videos where necessary.

Adding least one image to your blog post is necessary. When sharing on Facebook or Twitter, this image will appear as a thumbnail.

14. Optimize Images

  • Be sure to use small size images to speed up page loading.
  • Rename images with the main keywords of your post.
  • Use ALT text to optimize images. The ALT text should include a relevant keyword.
  • ALT text (alternative text) is a property of img tags in HTML.

15. Use Bullet Points or Numbered Lists

Reading bullet points is easy, so people like them. Use bullet points or numbered lists to highlight specific benefits or advantages. Using bullets and numbered lists will help crawlers find content faster in the article.

16. Internal Linking

Linking your own website's post to another post. This is called internal linking. Internal Linking is the part of link building.

If the content is too long you can add multiple internal links. My recommendation is adding links to 4-5 other posts in the article.

As you link related articles to an article, readers will spend more time on your site and this will increase the time on the site and the page rank will be passed on to other pages, which improves overall website ranking.

Interlink Only Related Articles. If internal links are not relevant, then the user will return quickly and the bounce rate will increase and the website ranking will fall.

17. External Linking

Linking to a trusted blog or website makes your make website more reliable. Again, just link relevant and related articles. When linking to any external source, be sure to link only to a trusted blog or website.

If you do not know the popularity of a website, use a nofollow tag to avoid passing link juice or page rank to other bad websites.

Yoast SEO is a WordPress plugin that is designed to make on-page SEO easy. Using this plugin is very easy. This helps you optimize the title, meta description, and URL structure. It also previews how posts will appear in Google search results.

There is a free version and a premium version. I recommend using the free version, there are features that you need to do SEO.
